SPRINGFIELD, MO — Northeast Community Park has received a generous investment from the Missouri Department of Conservation to support ongoing tree maintenance and conservation efforts throughout the park.

This funding will help maintain the park’s growing tree canopy ensuring a healthy and sustainable environment for the community to enjoy. The initiative supports nearly 100 trees across 40 acres of parkland.

“We are so grateful for the investment that has been made in Northeast Springfield,” said Joe Sardo, Park Development Director. “This couldn’t have been possible without the generosity of the Missouri Department of Conservation and the diligence of volunteers who worked so hard to make this place welcoming for everyone.”

Located north of I-44 on Glenstone, Northeast Community Park serves as a growing hub for recreation, connection, and accessibility, including the development of an inclusive playground designed for individuals of all abilities.

Work supported by this investment began on April 21^st, and will assist with continued efforts to ensure the long-term health and beauty of the park’s natural landscape.

Groundbreaking for Accessible Playground at Northeast Community Park

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The next phase of growth at Northeast Community Park is officially underway, as community leaders and partners prepare to break ground on a new fully accessible playground designed for children of all abilities.

The accessible playground represents Phase 3 of the park’s ongoing development and reflects the park’s mission to create a space where everyone in north Springfield can gather, connect, and play. The project has now been fully funded through the generosity of donors and community partners, marking a major milestone for the park and the families it serves.

Northeast Community Park is proud to announce an $8,000 donation from The Nick Hostler Foundation, to support the development of the park’s new accessible playground, designed to serve children and families of all abilities.

The donation was presented to Northeast Community Park and helped them fully fund their goal to create a space where children of all physical and developmental abilities can play, explore, and belong together. The accessible playground is a key component of the park’s mission to remove barriers and foster inclusive community spaces in northeast Springfield.
